Anglican
Church of Australia Ecumenical Dialogues
The Anglican Communion is engaged in multiple ecumenical dialogues. Some occur as international dialogues with representatives from across the Communion and others as dialogues carried out by the local national churches.
The Anglican
Communion Office site notes past and current
dialogues and documents.
In Australia the Anglican Church has been involved
in dialogues with the Roman Catholic Church, the
Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox Churches,
the Lutheran Church and the Uniting Church. Some
of these dialogues have produced agreements or
documents for further reflection. In 1998 the
Standing Committee of General Synod established
an Ecumenical
Strategies Working Group (this is now a Commission
of the Synod). In 1998 Steps
to Unity : An Outline Process for Ecumenical Convergence
from an Anglican Perspective. was issued.
Anglican-Lutheran
Dialogue
In 2001a report was issued entitled: Common
Ground: Covenanting for Mutual Recognition and
Reconciliation.
The Anglican General Synod endorsed the document without change in 2004.
Anglican-Roman
Catholic Dialogue
Within Australia dialogue between the Anglicans
and Roman Catholics has mirrored some of that
at the international level by ARCIC
(Anglican Roman Catholic International Commission
(International Anglican Roman Catholic Commission
for Unity and Mission.)
The local group in Australia has been AUSTARC
(Australian Anglican Roman Catholic Conversations)
Local papers or documents have included The Saints and Christian Prayer and Ministry on the Way.
Anglican-Uniting
Church Dialogue
In 2001 the document For the Sake of the Gospel: Mutual Recognition of Ministries in the Anglican and Uniting Churches in Australia was signed.
